This is an interview my dad conducted for the web site. Daddy being the kind gentleman he is, didn’t ask me smart aleck questions like my mom and sister did (click here to read their questions).

1. If you had to choose one singer as your role model who would it be?

Answer: When I was a teenager I did have different role models who were singers as you know (I certainly played their records more than enough at home LOL), but I've outgrown it. I realized early that they are all flawed human beings just like everyone else.

I want to blaze my own trial. I want to set the precedent rather than looking to someone else's.

I'm at a point that I feel very good in who God made me, so I shed all that. I think that's when I found out who I am as a singer vocally and spiritually and started doing what I really like and not what mainstream music dictates.

2. If you were to have been in a position to choose your place of birth other than Jamaica where would it be and why?

Answer: I love Jamaica and wouldn’t choose anywhere else. But if I had to choose another place it would definitely be a town in the English countryside or Miami.

British definitely by default. With my middle and last names being British, growing up with so many great British traditions and customs in Jamaica for the first few years of my life, half of mom’s side of the family, three generations now, living in England for the past 35-40 years and your side of the family coming from British decent, there are a lot of British things about me. Britain’s been a big part of my life since birth.

Having said that and having been raised in Miami and loving it, I would choose here as well. Miami is a great place. Culturally it has been very good to me. I’ve learned so much. The weather is wonderful and so are the people. Miami is apart of me.

3. What are the factors that have obviously driven you in the direction of the entertainment world moreso considering the uncertainties attached to this way of life?

Answer: Look in the mirror (haha). It’s a very uncertain life being an entertainer, as certain industry people don’t play by the rules, but that’s never going to stop me from doing what I love. By God’s grace and with God given talent, hard work, perseverance and faith, one can become successful.

This is what I do. This is what I know to do by God's grace. With the type of talent God has given me for music and film, I certainly want to try to do Him justice, with emphasis on the word try, by doing work that gives back to Him. Positive, thought provoking work.

4. If you should achieve your objectives in the world of entertainment, which would obviously mean that you would become wealthy, what are some of the noble aspirations you would satisfy?

Answer: I’d like to start a charity. I’ve always wanted to help churches and the homeless. I donate to them now and have since I was a teenager, but I would like to do even more God willing.
