November 30, 2005

Hectic month. A lot to do as usual.

At the beginning of the month, I had two FBI interviews regarding the lawsuit. I wrote about the interviews in this month's Sound Off Column.

Next up was my birthday on the 8th. I had a great birthday. I went to a restaurant, China Grill, on Miami Beach with my mom. It was the best birthday dinner I ever had. This place was very eclectic and creative.

My mom ordered seafood with pasta (dyed black with squid ink) and when it got to the table, much to the chef’s horror, she alarmingly exclaimed, “It’s moving!” So, I start laughing and look over at her plate to see what she was talking about. And it was actually moving! (LOL). Turns out it was a culinary trick, fish shells or something, using hot from the stove and cold from the air conditioning.

Either way, it was hilarious looking at her expression and then the server’s when she blurted out, “It’s moving!”

Jamaicans love live music, not live food. Once he assured her that her meal was indeed dead, she was fine. It was still funny, though.

On my birthday I usually buy a bunch of CDs and DVDs. It's become a bit of a tradition. I did it again this year and the store manager at the record store on the beach teased me saying I "need a few more" DVDs. I bought a few comedies. I love movies that make me laugh. It is my favorite record store, though. I go there all the time. They have great used music and movies. They need to start giving me frequent flyer miles.

The weather was lovely. The clean up on the beach after the Hurricane was pretty quick, as usual. The city has rebounded quite well, pretty fast, thank God. Looking at it, you can’t tell that a storm hit the beach. Recovery time is essential for tourism and the city did a very good job with an expedited clean up.

My friends and family called me throughout the day to wish me a happy birthday – and regrettably, my godbrother’s mom sang happy birthday to me. Yes, it was an earplug moment. She was deliberately singing badly, but it was funny.

It was my godbrother’s birthday as well this month, but on the 12th. His mom always says he and I are a lot a like due to our birthdays being only a few days apart. He is now 16, which means he can get his full license. We went to his birthday party in Palm Beach county at a park. While he and his friends played football, the rest of us talked.

Next up was Thanksgiving, which was wonderful. It's such a great holiday. Our friend, the chef, had a big dinner at her house. It's been an annual thing for years. It was about 50 people this year. And a great time was had by all. My mom wasn't happy about the football game, though. Dallas lost.

Spoke to my little sister on the internet a lot this month. She is hilarious. I love picking on her. It gives me so much joy. I tease her about little things in an annoying sisterly way. Hey, she teases me about stuff too.

Site News: There will be more album and site updates shortly, so keep checking back.
