March 6, 2004 Hello guys, how've you been. Sorry for the little absence from the site since last week. I've been very busy. Been sorting out the details for the distribution of the
CDs and I had several appointments as well. I've gotten a lot further with the mixing. I haven't been mixing everyday though, as I've had other things to do as well.
I
want to thank you guys for visiting the site. It's doing well, currently
averaging 90,000 hits per month. For an artist whose album isn't out yet, that's
pretty good. So thanks again, I really appreciate it. Artist of The Week Artist of the week is Fred Hammond, who is currently on tour. Check his web site for tour dates. Look out for his forthcoming album "Somethin' 'Bout Love." To visit his web site please click here.
March 13, 2004 Good morning, hope you are having a great day. The weather here is lovely. A few days ago I spoke to my aunt who lives in England... and well, ok, let’s not talk about the weather anymore haha. I’m just teasing. She said it’s about 30 degrees in England right now. This
week, I did more work on the album and on one of my films. God willing, with
what’s left to do, I should be able to finish up the album this month. I saw
a few soccer matches over the last two weeks - Freiburg vs. Kaiserslautern,
Fulham vs. Man U and Chelsea vs. Stuttgart (where there was only one goal scored
and under rather unfortunate circumstances). I
spoke to my dad and little sister on the phone recently. Now, about two weeks
ago my little sister asked me who's my favorite soccer team and I said in the
Premier League, Arsenal's my favorite. I asked her not to tell daddy. I had a
reason for this. Why, you ask? Because he's been a Manchester United supporter
since he was a kid. He did play pro-soccer for a few years and excelled at it,
but decided music is what he really wanted to do. My point? He likes Manchester
United. So, imagine his dismay at one of his children telling him one of his other children, namely me, likes their rival Arsenal - I guess I wasn't specific enough when I said, "Don't tell daddy that I like Arsenal!" Oh, I can just picture the look on his face when she told him. My little sister is probably laughing her butt off about this. So, yea, basically...Trudi, be afraid, be very afraid! (kidding). Song Of The Week Song of the week is “The Beauty Of The Cross” by Crystal Lewis from her album "More." She has such a great voice. Crystal is currently on tour. March 17, 2004 Good evening. I've changed the web site a bit. The slightly different layout is not the new site. It's the temporary site before the project launch. Happy St. Patrick's Day! My maternal great-grandparents moved to Jamaica from Ireland. My great-granddad was originally from Brazil. He was half Brazilian and half Indian. My great-grandmother was Irish. My mom was a toddler when great-grandmother died. For many years I'd wondered where I got the auburn hair from, as neither of my parents have light hair. If I didn't look so much like my dad I would have started looking at the mailman for answers (just kidding). However, my aunt told me about my great-grandmother with the red hair. One of my cousins in England is very light and when she was born my grandmother joked, "well at least she hasn't got red hair" (Every time my cousin visits Miami, she heads straight for the beach for a tan haha). Great-grandmother was very pale and with bright red hair, so grandma was joking about that combination. I was born 10 years later...and with auburn hair. I have some new baby pics for the new site that I'll post where you can see it. So far this week I've had mostly business appointments. Now that I've completed them, I can spend more time recording and mixing. I bought another computer this week, a laptop. I have a couple other computers, but I decided to get an upgraded one. The last one I bought is about 2 years old. I'm also looking to buy another computer this week or I might buy the components and build that one to my specifications. I was just looking at computer parts on line. I've replaced computer parts before and it's not much different to build one, though I don't recommend you doing either for safety reasons. I did some price haggling and got the retailer to take off 1/3 of the price of the laptop (don't look at me like that, they get their stuff at wholesale prices). Boy, when you flash a debit card then act like the price is so high that you have to walk out the store, you'd be surprised how quickly the price goes down....that and saying "I saw it on the Internet for less" (I really did - but with the store I'd save on shipping). I also bought some jewelry for some of the album and web site pics. There's some other stuff I have to get as well. But thank God it's all going well. I'm not complaining. I was taking a walk a few days ago and saw a white pelican walking in my direction, which isn't normal for here at all (Not Florida or Miami, but the suburb I live in). At first glance I couldn't even place the bird cause I'm not used to seeing them. I felt like such a city slicker - I stood there staring at the bird for a few seconds with this dumb blonde expression on my face...then after a few seconds I remembered the word...pelican. The bird was probably thinking, why is this Negro staring at me. They are very graceful, though. You've heard of dogs following people home...well, apparently pelicans can do that as well...(read on and stop laughing). I've been doing some work around the house. I built a little fountain in the front yard recently (I don't recommend you doing that either). It turned out really nicely - apparently pelicans think so as well, because two days ago my mom saw one drinking from the fountain - which made me wonder if it's the same one I saw a few days prior (hence the joke above about pelicans following people home). But, yea, the weather is that hot that pelicans are drinking from a fountain made by a singer. I also planted some new roses and annuals. I've also been redecorating one of the bathrooms and spare bedrooms. The Album Of The Week The album of the week is "Wow Worship," which is a great compilation. For more information on this album please visit the web site by clicking here. March 27, 2004 Good night, hope everyone is doing well. I've been doing a lot of writing this week. I wrote two albums and recorded a few of the songs from them. I recorded a few songs last week and a few this week as well. I've also been working on my album as well and getting everything in order for its release. I
also went to an auction last week and won two lots that I bid on (not
related to the project). Recently, my mom wanted to go out to celebrate some great news we'd received, so we went to dinner at this restaurant I chose. She didn’t want me wearing sweats to dinner, which I usually don't, but I was working all day (I was still cute though) because she said it was too casual. So, I said, even though it's a reputable place, a lot of the people that go there dress scruffily, um, I mean casually. Ironically, the scruffiest guy in the place turned out to be
the most known. I saw him at an adjoining table and joked, “he’s a musician,
look at the hair and the clothes – I know my people when I see them.”
Testing to see if I was right, my friend being really subtle went up to him and
said, “Who are you?” I wanted to laugh, but didn’t. He was nice and
answered her very politely and smiled (Yea, he wanted to laugh too). Turns out
he's a well-known producer who was here working on a record. Song Of The Week The song of the week is a nice track called "Never Alone" by Jody McBrayer from his album "This is Who I am." To visit his web site please click here. Check the sound off page as well, to do so please click here. I bought some DVDs, so I'm gonna go have dinner and watch one of them, then go to sleep. God bless you and goodnight.
