January 15, 2005 I hope all is well with you. Everything is great here, thank God. The new site's been on line for almost three weeks and is doing very well. Thanks for your patronage. I really appreciate it. The site is off to a great start. It's been a very productive three weeks. My press release for the CDs was listed on 5 major PR sites (and for free, so thanks to those companies and their corresponding web sites). DIGITAL DOWNLOADS: The 99 cent digital downloads from my CDs should be available on the site by Monday. I say should because they were supposed to be ready by Friday, but the software company I paid to configure the downloads I made, did not finish in time. They are gonna play around with me and end up on the Consumer page of the site, which coincidentally is doing very well (thanks for all the hits), as this isn't their first goof up. But I'm going to give them one more chance. CDNOW and Amazon.com - "Aisha," "Aisha The Remixes" and "Contemporary Girl" will be available through Amazon.com and CDNOW.com in the next two weeks. Then I'll add more titles to Amazon and CDNOW shortly after. I will post a link to the page when the CD titles are added to their sites. The full retailer list will be available shortly. However, in the mean time you can buy the CD here on the store page of the web site click here The first set of CDs are all Collectors Edition (as they are labeled). There will be a repackaged version in a few months, so buy the Collector's Edition while you can, as they will be more valuable when I become such a celebrity that I can be cruel to innocent people by giving them ridiculous requests on my riders that some poor intern has to go get. I'm just kidding about the riders. Hopefully airplay should start roughly in a month, as I'm sending out the CDs to certain djs next week, God willing. I say hopefully because djs often want payola and I refuse to participate in that. Some underestimate the influence of payola. I'm not giving merchandise to too many online outlets, because as many industry people know and have written articles about, some of them really aren't that reputable and it's hard to get a good accounting report from them (i.e. selling merchandise and not telling you or telling you they sold less than they actually did). My sales will not be reported until the CDs are in stores and on Soundscan (Billboard Charts) reporting online outlets. More on that later in a Sound Off Column in the next two weeks. But for now there is a new article posted to the Sound Off Column today that you can read by clicking here. This evening I did more work on my first book again. It's over 400 pages now. There's a lot of interesting stuff in there. More on that shortly. I also spent a few hours this evening working on putting together a tour in support of the album. I will also begin doing interviews shortly in support of the album. ARTIST OF THE WEEK The artist of the week is me! I'm just kidding. The artist of the week is Verity Records recording artist Deitrick Haddon. That's a nice name. I was flipping channels and saw Deitrick's performance on Soul Train last week and he was great. I heard him say "God is Good" and I stopped to watch his performance. I didn't know they had Christian artists on Soul Train, but it was a very nice surprise. I really love that song. Deitrick was also a child prodigy. His new CD is called "Crossroads." You can buy it at record stores or online at CDNOW.com. Here is a direct link to his page with excerpts from the CD:
Congrats to a former Artist Of The Week, Fred Hammond, for getting six
Stellar Award nominations for his album "Something 'Bout Love." Well Done!
