Aisha (born Aisha Kamilah Goodison on November 8, 1976 in Jamaica) is a Jamaican singer, writer, producer and director. She was born in Jamaica, spending several of her formative years in the capital, then raised in Miami, Florida. Aisha was a child prodigy, exhibiting a strong gift for music and writing poetry at a very early age. Aisha is the fourth of five children born to a prominent Jamaican figure. She is the only child of her mother, a former Miss Jamaica Nation runner up. Aisha's father, Vaughn, is a Justice Of The Peace (a Commonwealth Magistrate) and recipient of an Order of Distinction, the Commonwealth equivalent of a British OBE. He is also a musicologist and disc jockey with Hot 102 FM. She is the niece of award winning international radio personality and playwright, the Right Honorable Barbara Gloudon. Barbara has won many awards and served as the chairwoman for the United Nation's UNESCO branch in Jamaica. She is also the niece of Poet Laureate Lorna Goodison. Aisha’s self-titled debut album is a double disc containing 24 tracks that covers the gamut in music genres, from Rock to R&B and Jazz to Opera. Her debut single titled ''Contemporary Girl'' is released on her indie label Sonustar.
